Now Hiring: Campaign Fellows
Neighbors for Mitra is hiring paid part-time Campaign Fellows. Applicants will select one of three focus areas: Communications, Organizing, or Fundraising — and serve as key partners in advancing our campaign plan. Each focus area is explained in more detail below. Fellows will gain expertise in their focus area while also getting exposure to all of the core elements of political campaigns. There will also be weekly training and mentorship opportunities to help individuals become successful campaigners who can thrive in a career in electoral politics.
Team Mitra is happy to work with any academic institutions to meet requirements for earning internship credits.
Compensation: $18/hour for up to 15 hours per week.
Term of Employment: Monday, June 5, 2023 through Monday, November 13, 2023. Preference may be given to individuals who can commit to the fellowship through the end of the election.
Job Responsibilities:
All campaign fellows will be required to complete direct voter contact each week — what we consider the responsibility of all members of our team.
Campaign fellows will participate in weekly team training and meetings.
Campaign fellows will apply for a specific focus, which comes with specific responsibilities, noted below.
The Organizing Fellow will join the heart and soul of campaigns in connecting directly with members of ward four. Fellows will help implement the campaign organizing plan, brainstorm unique ways to meet community members where they are at, help create training programs, recruit and build relationships with volunteers, maintain voter data, and more.
The Communication Fellow will work to help the campaign generate unique content that engages new audiences, breaks through a noisy political atmosphere, write copy, and build out our amplification network.
Our Fundraising Fellow will play a key role in helping Team Mitra meet and exceed fundraising goals. They will help staff call time, complete donor research, maintain donor data, and grow our grassroots fundraising network.
Additional duties, as assigned by the Campaign Manager.
Job Requirements:
No previous campaign experience is required, but those with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
Strong communication skills, both in person and via computer/phone.
Dedication to progressive social change and ability to articulate a deep connection to Saint Paul.
Sees diversity as an asset, and equity and inclusion are core values.
Irregular and weekend hours may be expected; however, this will be scheduled with flexibility for your schedule.
Fluency in Spanish, Somali, or Hmong is appreciated but not required.
Ability to work remotely with access to the internet.
Access to a car is not required; however, expect to spend significant time in Ward 4. Team Mitra utilizes and highly encourages public transportation and other modes of transportation.
